Terms of Service

1. About these terms

These terms apply when you use TypingCoach at typingcoach.co.uk, a typing tutor for schools operated by Apps4Edu Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 12614353 ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you are using TypingCoach through your school, your school may also have its own rules that apply alongside these.

2. Accounts

• You can register directly or sign in with a Google or Microsoft account.
• The information you give us when registering must be accurate, and you are responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe.
• Teacher accounts are subject to review and approval before class management features are enabled. We may decline or revoke teacher access at our discretion, for example where we cannot verify a genuine connection to a school.
• Pupils may join a teacher's class using a join code. By joining a class, a pupil's typing progress becomes visible to that class's teacher.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use TypingCoach for anything unlawful, or in a way that could harm other users, especially children;
• upload or create content (for example custom lesson texts) that is offensive, discriminatory or otherwise inappropriate for a school setting;
• attempt to gain access to accounts, classes or data that are not yours;
• interfere with the operation of the service, including by automated scraping, probing or overloading it;
• misrepresent yourself, including applying for a teacher account when you are not a teacher.

Teachers who create custom lesson content are responsible for that content and must have the right to use any text they upload.

4. Our content

The TypingCoach name, design, lessons and built-in practice texts belong to us or our licensors. You may use them within the service for learning and teaching, but you may not copy, resell or redistribute them outside TypingCoach without our permission. Content you create yourself, such as custom lesson texts, remains yours; you grant us the licence we need to store and display it to you and your class.

5. Privacy

How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Where a school uses TypingCoach with its pupils through school-managed classes, the school is the data controller for its pupils' personal data and we act as the school's data processor. A data processing agreement between the school and us governs that processing and takes precedence over this section for pupil data. Schools can request our data processing agreement at privacy@typingcoach.co.uk.

6. Availability and changes

We work hard to keep TypingCoach available and reliable, but we provide it "as is" and cannot guarantee it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change or remove features, and we may suspend or end accounts that break these terms. Where practical, we will give notice of significant changes to the service or these terms.

7. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect losses, loss of data caused by events outside our reasonable control, or losses arising from use of the service contrary to these terms. TypingCoach is currently provided free of charge, and our total liability to you is limited accordingly to the fullest extent permitted by law.

8. General

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be handled by the courts of England and Wales. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. Apps4Edu Ltd's registered office is 124 City Road, London, England, EC1V 2NX.
